
Dr Caroline Lucas is Green Party Member of the European Parliament for the South East of England Region. First elected to the European Parliament as one of the Green Party's first MEPs in June 1999, she was returned to Brussels with an increased vote share in 2004.
Caroline is a member of both the Committee for International Trade and the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Policy. She is also Vice President of the Animal Welfare cross-party Intergroup; co-founder and co-President of the Intergroup on Peace Initiatives and a member of the Intergroups on Globalisation and Consumer Affairs. Dr Lucas is also a member of the Parliament's Delegation to the occupied Palestinian territories.
Caroline has written extensively on trade issues, economics and the environment. She is a Vice-President of the RSPCA, a member of the National Council of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, an Associate of the International Forum on Globalisation, an Honorary Associate of the British Veterinary Association and an Advisory Board member of the ‘Centre for a Social Europe’ think-tank.
Earlier this year she appeared on a list of the 100 top ‘eco-heroes’ of all time published by the UK Environment Agency.
